Student Education

As a teaching practice, periodically we welcome both degree students and secondary school work experience candidates to join the team for a short while in order to gain an understanding of what we do or develop their skills as a professional.

Below is an extract from Coventry University regarding a recent BSc Student:

"... Thank you for accommodating our year one physiotherapist student within your department  during 2008. We have had some feedback via email and from the student saying how much they have gained from the experience, in terms of consolidating what they have learnt and in terms of being shown so much that is new to them. They all talk highly of the support and care given by their supervisors.."  - Clinical Education Team

It has been a busy year for Physio Matters; as well as a moving to a new and bigger practice Physio Matters has developed in technology and technique. Now, after a 12 month settling in process at 3 Gipsy Lane (Balsall Common), staff are looking forward to a bright and successful future.

Physio Matters had previously been based on Kenilworth Road (also in Balsall Common) for 3 years, but in the April of 2006 it was time to branch out as the demand for physiotherapy was ever growing. Kiran Sharma (Director of Physio Matters) has designed and created a wonderfully spacious, elegant and friendly working clinic for all the team and new and old patients.

Below are some photographs from our Launch Party, when local MP Caroline Spelman (below right) honoured us by officially opening our new practise. It was great to see so many of our past and present clients on the night.

The upgrade in practice has been matched with new technology and treatments. The clinic now has a treatment room dedicated to the new Advanced Spinal Treatment machine, imported from America in May and the specialist bed which arrived in September. Physio Matters is one of only four clinics in the UK to have this technology designed especially for chronic back pain.

Physio Matters also offers hydrotherapy treatments at the local primary school’s swimming pool. A physiotherapist and an assistant and a trained lifeguard is also present to lend a helping hand. Hydrotherapy started in September 2006, as did the new Pilates classes, Pilates is taught by Sally Morris at the practice throughout the week.  The clinic also offers remedial and sports massage.

In looking back over the last year, it only seems right that Physio Matters should celebrate its successful makeover.
